This is awesome.
If your thinking of getting a clone console for your retro gaming of nes, snes and sega genesis, get this one. So far everything I have thrown at it seems to work. I tried an original Castlevania 3 cartridge and works great. Some people said that Battletoads donât work on this clone console, but I played it until I beat the first stage and also seems to work. I tried different everdrives, the n8 version of the nes Everdrive works great, the Super Nintendo Everdrive, the first version of it works great, and the sega genesis mega drive v3 works great as well. The picture is really good too, I was worried that it would look blurry at only a 720p signal but looks fine. The sound although seems more on the treble side of sound than the bass, but it differs game by game. I recommend this clone console for what it costs you probably wonât find a better hd clone console for the price. Itâs great for playing original cartridges if you feel nostalgia. Hope this helps others in trying to make a decision on purchasing this clone console

HIGHLY RECOMMEND
My original nintendo wasn’t working when I finally got it back out. Rather than try to get a new AC adapter (not sure if it was the cord or if the unit actually crapped out on me), or spend a ridiculous amount for the mini nes, I decided to get this gem.I was nervous ar first because the few negative reviews were very bad. I have only had this for 1 day, but I hooked it up the day I got it and played for several hours. I cannot stress enough how cool this thing is!!!!!It comes with 2 generic remotes, BUT has slots for original nes, snes, and sega remotes! It also came with all the cords needed (no hunting around for one at home). These included HDMI cable and USB micro WITH a block(both cords generous in length), the red/white/yellow cord, and some type of adapter thing?I only tried this with NeS super mario bros 3 cartridge so far. I was extremely gentle inserting the it as I had read some people had trouble getting theirs in.How long will this thing last me? Thats the only thing I’m worried about (a few said theirs stopped working not long after purchase)I’ll keep you posted.

Pays old games full screen
It feels very solid and I love the semi transparent shell. It also comes with an adaptor cord to use your snes controller as a regular nes controller.

Not Worth Playing.
The experience on this system is so flawed that it’s not worth playing even for free. Its food equivalent would be massively over-salted microwave pizza. I’m not kidding. It’s that bad.Even if you can get past all the glitches and color issues the input latency is so high that you must adjust the way you play to actually play. ***This is really the only part that matters.*** It’s like you’re telling Mario to jump in a different language and he needs to translate in his head first.Hey Captain Falcon!SETSARU!Uh… *Slams into wall*Oh… you said turn left! *Turns left. Hits wall again.*It’s an experience so deeply flawed that it makes fun games frustrating. If you give this to someone who doesn’t have experience with games from that era I fully believe they’re most likely to come away from playing this believing that all 8 and 16 bit era games must have just sucked. Also… so what if it plays three different systems worth of games? Your options are essentially:1. Salty microwave pizza2. A hotdog that’s been on a roller at your local convenience store for 3 days3. A can of mystery chili… and it’s clearly bulging.

Great retro game play!
No issues whatsoever. Plays all my Sega, NES and SNES games. Contollers are well made and have a great feel and response. System is very easy to use and switch from one platform to the next. My only problem now is locating my favorite games so I can play them again with my family.

A Great (But Not Perfect) 3 in 1 Clone System That Hits the Nostalgia
To those who don’t know, the Hyperkin RetroN 3 is a 3 in 1 system that plays NES, SNES and Genesis cartidges (as well as the European/Japanese counterparts via toggle switches on the bottom of the console). The system has 3 cartridge slots on the top of the system, and controller ports for SNES on the front, Genesis on the right side and NES on the left side (controller ports support both Hyperkin and OEM system controllers if you have them). What’s in the box:In the box, there is the RetroN 3 system, HDMI cable, AV cable, Power cable (Micro USB to USB A which goes into a power brick), one Hyperkin SNES controller (the Scout) and one Hyperkin Genesis controller (the Squire) and an adapter for the SNES controller to hook into the NES port. It also comes with instruction booklet and a Hyperkin logo sticker. The system is a clone system that plays original game cartridges. This is done by using a chipset in the system vs. emulation (i.e. the RetroN 5). There are pros and cons to this, but I personally decided to go the RetroN 3 route (System on a chip – SOAC) rather than a system like the RetroN 5 that uses emulation. Its nice for me because with my library of games, to just have this system hooked up, and know the system is reading from the cartidges themselves (vs. emulation which uses a file dump and your cartridge unlocks an emulation file stored on the system) is a big pro for me in the fact that there has been no issues reading my game save files on the carts from many years ago.Function, Gameplay and Sound:There are physical power and reset buttons, as well as a toggle switch to go between NES, SNES and Genesis slots. As others have mentioned, the cartridge slots (even the controller ports) are pretty tight. The SNES and Genesis slots (I don’t have an NES cart on hand so can’t speak to this yet) feel like you really have to push down on the cartridge to make it fit on the pins correctly. I remedy this by pushing the cart in on the left or right side of the cartridge and slowly work it into the slot, instead of going straight in and out which helps a lot. This is also true for removing the games.Gameplay is pretty spot on. I have not noticed any lag using the HDMI cable to my TV. Note that the HDMI cable supplied is pretty short though. The supplied controllers are pretty good for a 3rd party, they are well built, feel nice in hand, and function well for getting playing right out of the box, although some inputs seemed just ever so slightly off (thinking of Street Fighter special moves or precise platforming in DK Country mine cart levels for example). However, the fact that you can use OEM controllers is a great save here. The supplied controller cord length (I believe 10 ft.) is also very generous.Graphics look nice in HD (720p) and there is a toggle switch on the back of the console to switch between a 16:9 and 4:3 ratio. Colors are represented nicely, although i did notice compared to original hardware some slight differences in brightness and color tone (but nothing egregious or that would be noticed by most unless you are super familiar with the games).Sound is also pretty great. The soundtracks and sound effect of most games are re-created by the Hyperkin nicely. I can not speak to the NES at this moment though (I have read elsewhere that the NES seems to have the most problems here in this category – i.e., super mario bros. coin sound effects being off, etc.).Final ThoughtsThis is a great option to play NES, SNES, and Genesis games using one system that re-creates the old days of video gaming in HD. Is the Hyperkin as good as the original systems? Absolutely not. The Hyperkin is not perfectly recreating the original experience, however, it does come close, and offers a great budget solution to have something that can play multiple game systems through 1 HDMI port, and it plays the games really well (at least the several SNES and Genesis games I have tried). The system itself seems well built, but I am interested to see how long it will last with regular usage. If you are on the fence, I would say give it a try.

I’ve seen these console for a while and always wanted one. I finally did and I am blown away of how great it works, great the games look and how smooth everything works. I have SNES and Genesis game but not NES. Both port SNES and Genesis works flawlessly so I’m assuming the NES is too. The 4:3 and 16:9 switch on the back is great too. HMDI output. I love it.
