Skip Bayless has sparked controversy by labeling Taylor Swift a “distraction” for the NFL, following the Chiefs’ disappointing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas day at Arrowhead. Bayless directly addressed Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and coach Andy Reid, posing the question of whether it’s time to consider Swift a distraction. The Undisputed host posted this provocative query on X (formerly Twitter), garnering attention and backlash.
Cameras captured Swift in the stands several times during Monday’s game, a common sight when she attends NFL games. The Chiefs, favored to win, endured a tough defeat, with moments of frustration captured on camera, including Kelce tossing his helmet in anger as Mahomes and Reid attempted to intervene.
Swift was later seen consoling Brittany, Patrick Mahomes’ wife, with both women wearing matching red Santa hats with “87” and “15” to represent their partners’ jersey numbers, signifying their close bond.
Both Kelce and Mahomes have not performed at the level they achieved last season. Mahomes has had seven games this season with under 250 passing yards, compared to just five in the previous year. Kelce’s statistics also reflect a decline, with fewer yards and touchdowns in comparison to his performance in the previous season.
It remains unclear how Taylor Swift can be blamed for these statistics, but superstitious sports fans have a history of attributing player performance to their significant others.
